Over the years I have helped many people when it comes to their money matters.  As a financial aid administrator I helped students obtain grants and loans so they could go to school.  As a Realtor I helped buyers fix credit problems so they can get the American Dream... a new home.  I help buyers reorganize their money matters, handle credit issues, and find the best home loans (rates and fees) for their credit situation (from "D" paper to "A" paper).  As an office manager I have organized new and expanding companies structure or restructure the office to have the highest efficiency (eg: filing and computer systems) and most cost savings.  As a personal coach I help people reconfigure their lives to meet their life goals.  As a personal coach one of the biggest obstacles I came across was my clients personal finances.  Who can focus on a lifetime goal with the burden of debt and credit issues, not to mention the lack of savings to reach even or think about a dream.

The lack of financial education in the schools and from families (especially those struggling themselves) has lead us to have children and adults that do not have a clear understanding of money matters.  Somehow we began to think money grows on trees and credit cards don't have to be repaid.  Or worse, that it's normal and okay to carry huge credit card debt.  The common response I get from people when I ask them about their debt, they say that they thought the money would somehow appear.  

My goal in establishing www.myficofixer.com is to provide a wealth of education and learning opportunities so people can better understand money and how their credit will impact many aspects of their lives.  This is not a quick fix web-site.  This is about FINANCIAL FITNESS FOR LIFE.  It is about looking at your finances now and getting a clear picture of where you are today.  It's about looking at where you want to be and what it will take to get there.  Along the way we may need to fix your credit, make financial/spending adjustments, determine goals, lay out time frames, and give support to accomplish your dreams.

Money matters sometime suck.  Many of us prefer to sweep them under the carpet and deal with them some other day.  They can be extremely depressing, frustrating, and unfair.  But here we are.  It's now time to deal with them so you can move on in life.  

I encourage you to do all the free stuff you can.  Get your FREE credit report and get FREE counseling from the not-for-profit counseling agencies and your bank, credit union, and even your insurance company (many of them have free financial planners).  Before you take on any of these restructuring plans, including at the not-for-profit agencies make sure you are making the right move.  Many not-for-profits are funded by creditors and sometimes they do what's in the best interest of the creditor, so get your facts.  Sometimes we feel overwhelmed because we don't know where we stand (do your budget already!).  Sometimes we are overwhelmed because we did our budget and it seems like it will take 100 years to pay off the debt.  Before you look at bankruptcy go to the not-for-profits and get their free help.  Although it's taking less time to recover from bankruptcy it will still affect you.  If you've already declared bankruptcy you need to begin reestablishing yourself now.  In as little as 18 months you will see light at the end of the tunnel if you get a move on it now. 

SPECIAL NOTE for those facing FORECLOSURE - This time can be particularly disturbing, stressful, crazy, and depressing.  You will have people calling you out of the blue, people knocking at your door, creditors calling you, and more.  As a realtor I know I have contacted people to see if I can list their home before it's taken away.  Considering where the real estate market is right now you will undoubtedly have a lot of strangers telling you how they can help you.  You need to know your options.  Depending on where you are in the process and the type of language in your mortgage note there may not be much time left.  Click here for information on Oregon Law Summary.  If you're struggling and need to bounce around some ideas let's talk.
